First week is first week
I'm back! I've been busy with school stuffs for the past two weeks. If only I could finish Accountancy in 4 years, I should be graduating by next year. So I still have 2 years to bury myself with accounting madness. Anyway, first week of class is the usual first week of class. UPV Rhapsody was invited to sing the national anthem and the UP Naming Mahal for the opening exercise. Can't remember the last time I actually sang the national anthem with a group. That was during high school, I think. Hmmm. And hey, memorize ko na ang UP naming Mahal! If it wasn't because of the invitation I think I'll graduate without knowing how to sing any single line of it. Well except for the title itself. Haha, shame on me.

Oh well
This blog had been idle for quite
some time. Forgive me. I've been busy with enrollment and stuffs. I promise to
make it up. Anyway, this post is not about ukay. Allow me to be emo just this
time. Hehe. Short intermission.
Lately I've been thinking about what life had been for me for the past 6 months. I haven’t achieved anything great. No spices, not to mention those untold trips that I had just to satisfy some personal longing for someone. If you know what I mean. Hehe. Life had been driving on a straight road alone. I want something new. Something different. Something out of my comfort zone. Something that will break this monotonous existence.
I want to achieve something remarkable. That’s all. T_T

I am not a head turner when it comes to fashion. I usually wear T-shirt, jeans or shorts during ordinary days. This outfit below is really out of my comfort zone. I fell in love with this floral long sleeves the first time I saw it. Cute, right? Looking good for only P20! Ukay delight!

Stripes
Mama and I went thrift shopping yesterday because we're bored. She really is my inspiration when it comes to ukay. I guess it runs in the blood. I live my whole life wearing ukay clothes and I don't feel bad about it because I still look good. Haha. Anyway, I got this striped dress. I was hoping for a vertical stripes 'coz they say it'll make you look slimmer. Nonetheless, this still looks sexy to me. Nyay. I bought this for only P50.

Ball Skirt
Hi there. Yehey this blog is 3 days old na! Hehe. Just so you'll know guys, this post and some of my succeeding posts will be all about my previous ukay outfits that gained remarkable compliments from friends. Charing. Hehe. I was actually planning to had a photoshoot with myself (haha) today but I realized I left some of my good ukays in Iloilo. Maybe I'll do it soon. And it's hard to be the photographer of your own self. Nobody here at home would do it for me. Huhu.
Let's start with this pretty layered skirt. I really love this! I bought this 2 years ago for our Lupercalla (mini prom of our dorm) . This skirt is good for those who are hiding their baby fats like me. If there's ball gown, then this one is a ball skirt. The prints look like a painter had just sprinkled some black paint on a cloth. Parang art lang. Hehe.
I didn't have a solo pic with this skirt during the party. So forgive the faces of these monkeys. Haha. Peace out! And hey Rai, pahiram ng pictures. Hehe.
I guess the disadvantage of wearing layered skirts is that it doesn't show your curves. Well that is if you have one. Haha.
Take note, the blouse is also ukay and I love it. It emphasizes my broad shoulders. Ehem.
I looked for layered skirts in the internet that looks just like this. And I found this. Nyay.
I bought mine for only a hundred at an ukay store inside Marymart Mall. Ukay delight! =)

Ukay Tips
Thrift shopping is not a chicken thing to do. You really have to be masipag in digging those pile of clothes which are mostly vintage. It's like treasure hunting, they say. Instead of looking for treasure, you look for clothes, bags, and shoes. Here are some tips for those aspiring thrift shoppers out there. I found these useful tips from www.spot.com.
Enjoy shopping!
12-Step Battle Plan:
1. Research. Master the trends before embarking on your battle, so you can keep an eye out for certain colors, prints, cuts and fabrics and ignore what's blah. But also keep in mind that classics never go out of style.
2. Dress down and dress tight. No dressing room? No problem. Wear something you can slip on and off without exposing yourself. Layer an oversized tank over a tight one, and wear leggings and sneakers so you can try on the clothes on the spot.
3. Look poor. Seeing that the customer is well-dressed, salespeople can hike up the price pronto. Look casual and discreet—“most ukays are in dodgy locations so it's best to blend with the crowd.
4. Bring barya. You can't exactly haggle if you're carrying money in P500 and P1000 denominations.
5. Haggle-frock. Haggle for half the price and meet halfway with the seller. Accumulate purchases and ask for additional items for free.
6. Ditch the handbag. Go hands-free—“an oversized sling bag is perfect. Not only can you put your other purchases inside but it also lets you scour the racks with ease.
7. Be greedy. Never put an item down unless you're sure you aren't going to get it. Remember that these pieces are one of a kind and that another customer may be eyeing your choices and is just waiting for you to put it back. And finally, learn how to edit.
8. Caveat emptor: It's understood that once you purchase something, you take everything that comes with it: stains, smells and snags. So, check the underarm areas. If it's overly-stained, dump it. Underarms are very sensitive parts and stains only mean that the previous owner did sweat on it profusely and the bacteria from it will never go away.
9. Discriminate: Stay away from bathing suits, always wear socks for shoes and always check for holes and stains.
10. Before you buy: Ask: Am I just caught up in the thrill of the low price? Do really I love it? Will I actually wear it? If the answer is no, then it's just a waste of money.
11. Before you say bye: Tell the store you'll be back soon and that particular branch is your favorite bargain depot. Befriend that staff and get the number so they'll alert you for the next batch of new arrivals or even better, you get first dibs on the biggest sales.
12. After you buy: Rinse clothing in vinegar (known to eliminate germs) and wash it off. Another option is to slightly boil it to kill bacteria. Research on fabric care and handling so you don't ruin your most-coveted bargain discovery!
