Ukay duty

It's been a while since my last post about ukay. I actually banned myself from thrift shopping a month ago 'coz I noticed how my closet looks like a dumping site of clothes (some of them I don't even wear). During our foundation week, I actually volunteered myself to look for some costumes for our Scions' models for Hinugyaw (modeling competition). And oh yeah I went thrift shopping! I looked for something like this:

And I found this. I can't find any decent picture of those two guard models. They actually did some modifications like putting those red something on the shoulders. Bought it for only Php20 each.

You might want to ask me where I bought those guard tops. Hehe. Well for my convenience, I just went to Marymart Mall at Iloilo downtown. It's the best place to ukay especially if you don't want to literally ukay those clothes because they're hanged. Plus the stores are airconditioned. Don't expect for cheaper prices. Ukay ranges from Php100 and up. Trust me they don't look ukay at all. Sometimes these stores offer our favorite bagsak presyo! Just like this store. It's the cheapest ukay store in the mall. Everyday is a sale day! It's between Options and Magarbo at the ground floor of the mall.

UFC No. 2: Coffee House Beanery

I was not much of a coffee drinker back then. It started during my third year in college where it demanded me to be a zombie in the wee hours of the night. Mom keeps on telling me not to overdose myself with caffeine but what can I do? I just have to. I actually changed my study habit now that I'm on my fourth year. I sleep at 10 pm and wake up at 4 or 5 in the morning. I see to it I sleep 6-7 hours a day. Meaning no coffee during the night. And then suddenly it got weird because my body kept on telling me to grab some dose of caffeine during mornings.  I then realized that I was in love. With coffee. And the rest was history. Haha.

Okay, that was just an introduction for this entry. I want to share with you my new found haven. It's called Coffee House Beanery located near Robinson's alongside the corner of Quezon-Ledesma St. You can hardly notice it because the shop is just small and not that attractive from the outside. I'm not a fan of coffee shops (because I find them expensive hihi) but I guess this one's pretty good. If you want to have some time alone, you might want to visit this place because you're literally alone (except for the waiters). Plus they are not that expensive. Swak sa budget. They serve brewed coffee, frappes, tea, sandwiches, pasta and even meals. Prices start from P50 and up.

I ordered grilled cheese sandwich for P55 and cafe americano for the same price. Nothing so special.

Look at those writings on the mirrors. Isn't it cool?

I love you friend

All emotions are heightened. I may not be in the proper state right now but the universe is telling me to get up and be an instrument to those voices who are weakening. We may be in pain right now. But who says we'll suffer this tragedy forever? We get hurt, cry, stumble, and stand up again. That's part of life. Every experience is a piece that will help us solve the bigger puzzle. Life is full of surprises. Cry once in a while. But remember that there's more to life than what you're facing right now. We are young. At the end of the day, you'll find yourself laughing at those simple things you were crying on. Get up! You have your friends with you. Life doesn't end there. I know it's hard. But eventually everything's gonna be fine.  All is well. I know I'm drunk right now but damn trust me, all I'm saying right now are true. I love you and I'm very lucky to have you as my friend. Be strong. Life goes on. ;)

Your drunk friend,

Manit

Ukay Food Chronicle No. 1: Daily Buns Cafe and Bakery

I miss you! LOL. Acad life is so demanding right now but gosh why can't I feel any pressure. I have three major exams next week and I'm still not halfway of my review. But I already promised myself that I have to get things done by the weekend. Right now it's like I don't give a damn anymore if I get high or low grades. I constantly keep on telling and reminding myself that I just have to give my best and everything else will follow. Trust me, it will do no good if you are grade-centered. At the end of the day you're not being measured by these numbers. Palusot eh. Haha.

Anyways, I only have two years left here in Iloilo so might as well spend it very wisely. I am planning to visit and "ukay" all the must try restaurants and cafes in the city before I graduate. Of course I don't wanna do it alone so I have to bring my friends with me. Budget for every food chronicle is P150. How's that? Not bad.

First stop was Daily Buns Cafe and Bakery located beside Esplanade along Diversion Road. I'm really fond of bread and pastries. I guess I developed this interest because our family owns a bakeshop.

It's not that big inside but the place looks good.

I ordered their bestseller muffin which I don't really recommend. Hihi. It does taste good but I think it lacks some texture and sweetness. I also ordered their mango bun which I find really tasty. I paid P50+ for these. Not bad.

I went there alone gosh I'm so emo. I don't wanna do this alone next time. Ukay food chronicle No. 1 check! More to go. Hehe.
